220 Fine Art Gallery invites submissions to water weighs. Art addressing the matter of water. While covering a large geographic area, this will be a small exhibit of no more than 10 selected artists in a small, intimate gallery in Wimberley Texas. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st & 2nd place winners. Artists must reside in one of the following counties: Bandera, Bell, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Coryell, Crockett, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, McCullouch, Menard, Real, San Saba, Schleicher, Sutton, Travis, Val Verde and Williamson.

MEDIA

  • All media are acceptable except jewelry and video.
  • Computer-enhanced photography will be considered and must be designated as such.
  • Outdoor (yard) sculptures may be entered with dimensions and images of the sculpture taken at three different viewing angles.
  • AI generated content will be considered BUT must be designated as such, including the method and degree of enhancement and content.

  • Must be able to hand deliver artwork to 220 Fine Art Gallery May 10 3-6pm; May 11 10-12pm; or May 12 10am-3pm

HOW TO ENTER ONLINE

  • ALL submissions will be online. Upload images of your artwork via artcall.org
  • Please do NOT include frames for images of 2-D work or distracting backgrounds for 3-D artwork.
  • Please submit images per instructions on artcall.org
  • Submission period is 02/03/24 to 04/20/24.

GUIDELINES & FEES

  • $40 for up to 3 artworks MUST be paid at time of submission through artcall.org
  • 220 Fine Art Gallery reserves the right to restrict entries, if necessary, in the interest of safety and ability to handle. Also, if the accepted work differs significantly from the submission photograph, 220 Fine Art Gallery has a right to decline the work.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • All entries must follow the timelines provided.
  • Image submission via artcall.org must follow the guidelines in this prospectus.
  • To be juried, entries must:
    • Be original and completed after December 1, 2021
    • Have NOT been exhibited in previous 220 Fine Art Gallery juried exhibitions
    • Have NOT been completed under instruction or in direct association with a class or workshop
  • Once accepted, ARTWORK MUST:
    • Be ready for display – dried, physically stable and wired for hanging. All hanging artwork, (2-D or 3-D) may not exceed 30” in height or 30” in width including frame or weigh more than 15 lbs. Sawtooth hangers are NOT allowed (D-rings strongly recommended on ALL hanging artwork)
    • NOT exceed 24” X 10” X 12” or weigh more than 25 pounds for indoor three-dimensional works
    • NOT exceed 5'h X 12" X 15" width and depth, and have a stable base for 3-D outdoor sculpture
    • Have a completed ID tag 
    • Be part of the exhibit until the closing date and NOT picked up early by the artist or purchaser.

PRIZES

  • 1st Prize:   $300
  • 2nd Prize: $200
  • 3rd Prize:  $100

SALES

All artwork exhibited MUST BE PRICED and available for sale. 220 Fine Art Gallery will receive 45% of the sale price and the artist will receive 55%.

LIABILITY

  • All unsold artwork must be picked up by scheduled dates. It will not be held in climate-controlled storage after July 14, 2024, at 4 pm.
  • 220 Fine Art Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work of art submitted, and all works submitted and received are subject to this
    condition. All possible care will be used in handling entries.

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORK

  • You MUST label your artwork using the ID label included with this prospectus. ALL hanging hardware must be attached.
  • Accepted artwork can be hand delivered on May 10 3-6pm; May 11 10-12pm; May 12 10am-3pm to 220 Fine Art Gallery at 220 Old Kyle Rd. Wimberley, Texas 78676
  • ALL hanging hardware MUST be attached (use of D-rings strongly recommended.)

JURY PROCESS
Monetary awards and honorary recognitions will be based on accepted physical artwork delivered to 220 Fine Art Gallery. The juror and 220 Fine Art Gallery reserve the right to re-consider delivered artwork if it’s different than the submitted image or does not meet adequate requirements for hanging or display. These works may or may not be included in the exhibition at the discretion of the committee.

Submitted artworks will be juried for acceptance to the exhibit and judged for award prizes by Suzanne Oliver, gallery owner/curator along with guest juror Elizabeth Locke. 
NOTE: There will be a limit of one piece of artwork accepted from any artist’s submissions.

OUR GUEST JUROR

Elizabeth Locke is a painter and a teacher. Born into a family of artists, Elizabeth has been painting and drawing from an early age. While in high school, she was invited to attend art classes on scholarship at Chouinard Fine Art School in Los Angeles. She then studied at Sir John Cass College of Art and Heatherley School of Art in London and at the Arts Students League in New York City. Elizabeth then apprenticed with Larry Gluck where she learned the technical side of visual communication. Since then, she has studied with other renowned artists such as Quang Ho, Ron Hicks, Kim English, Michael Lynch, Helen Van Wyk, to name a few. For 40 years Elizabeth has owned the Art Study Program at Austin Fine Art Classes in Austin and Wimberley Texas.
